“The Taxidermist”

This morning I am very excited to have had another story published, this time at Real South.

“The Taxidermist” is a story about Vernon, a retired, vegetarian taxidermist persuaded to make a griffin from a bobcat and a rooster. When the griffin comes to life, Vernon is sure that it’s his dead wife, reincarnated — and she’s got a message for him.

Read the entire June issue of Real South by going here (it’s worth it).

  1. Just got around to reading it M ….great job! “Night presses in mutely at the front windows .” or “-her pelt and feathers so glossy they shed the fluorescent light like rainwater.” …many favorites. I keep thinking ‘Edgar Allan Poe-esk’ and can easily see it adapted into a short film of sorts.

    Again, awesome …and thanks 🙂
